Volume II Plate 7 - The Temple of Ramesses III at Medinet Habu. ~ The Great Temple featured seven, very large, twenty-four foot tall caryatid pillars of the Egyptian god of the Underworld, the dead, and past Pharaohs, Osiris. Each sculpted figure was displayed with a highly ornamented headdress and a resolute disposition. These beautiful and colossal giants were captivating to the French savants.
