A lithograph with hand colored wash Size: 14.2 inches x 11.4 inches (36 cm x 29 cm); Scale: 1 inch = approximately 23 miles. Map Type: Atlas Inset table of Steam Boat routes from Louisville. Inset maps of Fayette county and Lexington, the Falls of Ohio, and the Ohio River area between Maysville and Clarksburg. Minor age spotting, overall in excellent condition. Thomas, Cowperthwait & Company of Philadelphia purchased the copyright of the New Universal Atlas from Samuel Augustus Mitchell, Sr. in 1850. Taken from this atlas, this map is attractive and legible, and displays a growing network of rail roads, roads, and canals. The map also displays the topographical features of the state, including mountains and rivers. Ferry locations are also noted.
