Originally folded into the booklet "Phelps & Ensign's traveller's guide through the United States : containing stage, steamboat, canal and rail-road routes, with the distances from place to place : illustrated by a new and accurate map of the United States". Folded size 5-1/2 inches X 3-1/4 inches. Boards stamped Phelps & Squire Travellers Guide". Spine repaired with cloth tape. Chipped on all edges.

This map features a very decorative border. It shows the distances from point to point on each road. The location of many Indian tribes are also identified, many with population estimates. Existing rail road routes are also identified.
