Together with Maps of the Vicinities Of Thirty-Two Of The Principal Cities And Towns in the Union. Inset Map of the North-Eastern Boundary of the United States according to the Treaty of 1842. Inset map of the southern part of Florida. Two statistical charts are also displayed: the population of 120 principal cities and towns in the U.S., and the "Population of Each County, &c., in the Different States and Territories of the United States, in 1840." This is the pocket map form of a map that was usually issued as a wall map. Two folding sheets, one with the U.S. map and the other with the 32 cities maps forming a border around tables of statistics from the 1840 census. This map was part of a series of regularly updated "National Maps" issued by Mitchell. Originally issued as a wall map, towns and roads are clearly labeled.
