A lithograph with hand colored wash. Size: 13-1/2 inches X 17 inches Map Type: Atlas This is a good copy with vivid colors. General age toning throughout. Water stain in upper left and lower left margins, not affecting image. Some offsetting. Thomas, Cowperthwait & Company of Philadelphia purchased the copyright of the New Universal Atlas from Samuel Augustus Mitchell, Sr. in 1850. Taken from an 1852 atlas, this map is attractive and legible, and displays a growing network of rail roads, roads, and canals.
