This is an excellent copy with some mild foxing to lower blank margin but not affecting image. The map is slightly creased where it was formerly folded. There is a short split at lower margin

This map focused on the Spanish area of influence in today's Mexico. This 16th century map displays what was know about southern Texas, including named rivers such as "Rio del las Palmas", "Rio Bravo", and "Rio del Oro". Towns are illustrated by small symbols. Seas are stipple engraved and labeled in flourished italic capitals.

This map was taken from the only known geographic work by Wytfliet, Descriptiones Ptolemaicae Augmentum....

This was the first separately published atlas devoted solely to the Americas.
