This is an accurate and detailed map that features a superb rendering of the Republic of Texas. Details for Texas were derived from John Arrowsmith's map of 1841. Texas is shown with its borders prior to the Compromise of 1850, colored in red. The northern boundary extends to the Arkansas River at the 38th parallel, excluding any notice of Indian Territory. The western border extends into today's New Mexico just past Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos. A note in the bottom left corner reports the dates of Texas recognition by Great Britian. The map also shows the states east of the Mississippi River, as well as Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Iowa Territory and Wisconsin Territory. Map details include cities, towns, roads, railroads and canals. Topographicas features such as rivers and mountains are also illustrated. Inset map "Sketch of the River Niagara". This map was originally published in National Atlas of Historical, Commercial and Political Geography. This is an accurate and detailed map that features a superb rendering of the Republic of Texas.
