An engraved map, with hand colored outlines. Size: 9 inches X 11 inches; Scale: 1 inch = approximately 120 miles. Map Type: Atlas This is a superior copy, very clean with vivid colors. This rare map was taken from James Gilbert's Modern Atlas of the World. Texas is shown in it's republic configuration, extending to the Rio Grande river and the Arkansas river in the north, encompassing Santa Fe. Other items are noted, such as Ft. Houston near the headwaters of the Trinidad (Trinity) River and the location of Parkers Fort in central Texas. Today's Pecos River is called the Puerco. Other interesting markings include the location of the American Fur Company Depot on todays Great Salt Lake.
