Thomas, Cowperthwait & Company of Philadelphia purchased the copyright of the New Universal Atlas from Samuel Augustus Mitchell, Sr. in 1850. Taken from this atlas, this map is attractive and legible, and displays a growing network of rail roads, roads, and canals. Inset maps of Pensacola, Tallahassee, and the St. Augustine harbor. Inset "Water Routes" tables. The map also displays the topographical features of the state, including mountains and rivers. Ferry locations are also noted.
