A color printed stone lithograph Size: 9 1/2 inches X 11 1/2 inches; Scale: 1 inch = approximately 150 miles. Map Type: Atlas This is a good copy, the colors are vivid. A darkend strip appears across the top margin and slightly into the border of the map. A small tear appears on the left and extends into the decorative border. George Cram was born in 1841 and served with the Union forces in the Civil War before going into the map publishing business with his uncle in 1867. Two years later, he founded his own company, publishing maps and atlases. Based in Chicago, Cram produced maps and atlas volumes for over 50 years. Taken from "Cram's Universal Atlas - Geographical, Astronomical and Historical". This detailed map includes lakes, rivers, cities, towns, and many other topographical features.
