A copper plate engraved map with hand colored outlines. Size: 15.75 inches X 12 inches at the neat line. Map Type: Atlas This is a superior copy, with vivid colors. This detailed map of Japan was taken from Atlante Novissimo, illustrato ed accresciuto sulle osservazioni...one of the most beautifully produced atlases of the 18th century. It illustrates the topographical features of the island including mountains, valleys, rivers, and numerous small islands that surround the main islands. It features an ornamental cartouche at top left. This is a very detailed and interesting map. Antonio Zatta was one of the leading cartographers and publishers of the time residing and operating in Venice.
